The capstone of GEDS — Gaia Education Design for Sustainability & Regeneration

Bring it all together. Design a real project.

The Design Studio is your graduation project — 16 weeks where you turn what you learned across the four dimensions into a real regenerative project, first solo, then in a team.

The capstone of GEDS. Integrative whole-systems design where you take everything you have learned across the four dimensions and apply it — alone first, then in a team — to a real-world project.

16 weeks 8h / week Awards the GEDS Certificate

What is the Design Studio?

The Design Studio is the integrative capstone of the GEDS journey. In Phase 1 you develop your own design proposal under facilitator guidance. In Phase 2 you join a 3-5 person team to co-create a final integrated design — including observation, interviews, and an integrated proposal — delivered as a report and presentation. Completing the Design Studio after all four dimensions awards the full GEDS Certificate of Completion.

You choose your own project, grounded in a real place you care about — a community, an organisation, a piece of land, an initiative you want to start or strengthen.

Two phases, one journey

Move from your own design proposal to a real-world team project, guided by experienced facilitators.

1

Individual proposal

Develop your own regenerative design proposal under facilitator guidance. Apply the lenses and tools from the four dimensions to a context that matters to you.

  • Choose your own project and place
  • Facilitator feedback throughout
  • Deliver an individual design brief
2

Team project

Join a small team of 3–5 people to co-create a final integrated design — including observation, interviews, and an integrated proposal — delivered as a report and presentation.

  • Small, cross-disciplinary teams
  • Field research and stakeholder interviews
  • Final report and presentation

Eligibility

Complete all 4 dimensions within 3 years to unlock the Design Studio

The Design Studio is the integrative capstone of the GEDS program. To enroll, complete the Social, Ecological, Economic, and Worldview dimensions within a three-year window. The full GEDS Certificate is awarded on successful completion of the Studio.

How to reach the Design Studio

The Studio isn't a course you register for. It's the capstone you earn.

There's no separate sign-up for the Design Studio. To open access, complete the four GEDS dimensions — , Ecological, Economic, and Worldview — within a three-year window. Once you've finished all four, the Studio opens automatically as your graduation project.

The next Studio cohort starts August 1, 2027 — but it's reserved for participants who have completed (or are completing) the four dimensions. The full GEDS Certificate is awarded on successful completion of the Studio.
